The Best Way to Recover a Deleted Distribution List

Introduction:

If you’ve dedicated a huge time span in maintaining your distribution list and accidentally that is been deleted that seems like a major Catastrophe and most interestingly in older versions of outlook (2003 and 2007) there were no warning message while Delete button was being pressed. So this article is based on some tips to Recover a deleted distribution list.

Steps to recover a distribution list:

If a distribution list is accidentally been deleted.
  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Go to the "Mail".
  3. Click on  "Deleted Items" in the "Mail" window.
  4. Search for distribution list in the deleted items.
  5. Click on the distribution list and drag it to "Contacts" to restore the distribution list.

If distribution list is permanently Deleted:

Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 has a way to recover items even after emptying the Deleted Items folder. If it is connected with a Microsoft Exchange Server account. To do this follow these steps:-
  1. Open Microsoft Outlook
  2. Go to "Contacts" window by clicking on it
  3. Go to the "Tools" menu.
  4. Select "Recover Deleted Items"
NOTE: If "Recover Deleted Items" is not showing then Outlook account may not be setup on the Exchange Server. If you believe that it is, contact to the network administrator.

Conclusion:

This procedure adds the distribution list to your main (default) Contacts folder. Your distribution list might be arranged according to the date it was created; in that case, scroll through the deleted items. And if the file is not recovered by the above methods   you can take help from a 3rd Party Software so that it can save your time and resolve your problem surely. One I would like to prefer is SysTools Outlook Recovery because it can Repair complete Outlook PST Data: Emails, Contacts, Calendar & more.
